Karla Jackson-Brewer is an African American feminist therapist whose private practice serves women of color, sexual assault survivors, and addresses issues of cultural and ethnic identity, spirituality and empowerment. Karla is an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University in the Women’s and Gender Studies and Africana Studies Departments. She has taught at the college level for the past 23 years. She teaches the courses, “Dynamics or Race, Sex and Class,” “Intro to Africana Studies: The Black Woman,” and “African Religions.” She currently advises a women’s activist organization at Rutgers.
Board Vice President
Robin Stern, Ph.D., is a licensed psychoanalyst, educator, and author, with over twenty-five years of experience treating individuals, couples, and groups. She develops and implements training programs, and writes about personal and professional growth emphasizing the importance of self-awareness, emotional competencies, and ethical leadership. Robin holds a doctorate in Applied Psychology, as well as a post-doctoral certificate in Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy. She is on the faculty of Teachers College, Columbia University, The Training Institute for Mental Health, in New York City, and, is a consultant to the Health, Behavior and Emotional Lab at Yale University. Robin is a founding board member of The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, where she co-created the curriculum for the Woodhull retreat experience and continues to teach and train women of all ages. Additionally, Robin is a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association. Her first book, The Gaslight Effect: How to Spot and Survive the Hidden Manipulation Others Use to Control Your Life (Random House May ’07) was written up in all the top women’s magazines: Elle, O, Allure, Cosmopolitan, as well as in newspapers, such as Metro NY, Philly and Boston. Dr. Stern was featured as a guest on local and syndicated radio stations nationwide, providing commentary and answering questions for call-in segments. She also traveled extensively, speaking at the Jr. League, The American Psychological Association, The National Association for Domestic Violence Prevention, Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders, Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, Daemen College and Columbia University. She continues to travel, speak, train, teach and counsel. She has a thriving private practice in New York City and lives in Riverdale with her husband and two children.
Jacquette M. Timmons
Jacquette M. Timmons, the author of “Financial Intimacy,” is known for leading thought-provoking conversations about money, choices, relationships, and life. An investment expert and financial coach, she is the founder of Sterling Investment Management, an investment education and financial coaching firm. She has worked in the investment industry for twenty-three years, dedicating more than a decade to teaching intelligent people how to be smarter with their money. Ms. Timmons holds an MBA in finance from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business and a BS in marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
