Internships

2010-2011 Opportunities

We have a small yet dynamic office with two full time staff and we are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to intern for 8-15 hours each week. We are looking for undergraduates or alumnae from any major but an interest in social sciences, particularly in community outreach and/or organizational development is ideal. Also, an interest in Gender/Women’s studies is optimal.  We need an intern with great computer and writing skills, who is a team player and who has a strong desire to help women succeed. We are now accepting both Winter and Spring applications!

Skills to Be Gained

Woodhull interns gain experience in program coordination, event planning, marketing, and non-profit management as well as make important contacts and build their professional network.  Our interns have the opportunity to learn more about women’s leadership development as well as have the opportunity to develop her or his leadership skills by attending and participating in relevant Woodhull-sponsored events and conferences.

Our interns will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience in all areas of our programming, special events, outreach, and administration. Interns will also have the opportunity to design and implement their own programs.

Hours and Pay

Woodhull interns have the opportunity to enjoy multiple benefits, including:

  • Class credit or work-study hours (as offered by intern’s college or university).
  • Travel stipend.
  • Complimentary attendance of 1 weekend-long retreat.
  • Complimentary attendance for professional development seminars and special events occurring during the interns’ tenure.

Social Media Intern

The main responsibilities of the Social Media Intern are to update and maintain all of Woodhull’s social network sites. We are a non-profit organization and we need to get our name and our mission out to as many people as possible. This includes posting on various websites (Twitter, Facebook, Idealist, etc.) about Woodhull’s retreats and seminars, adding our events to online calendars, finding relevant list servs to join, and working to promote the Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership’s mission to educate women on professional development and ethical leadership practices.

Qualifications:

Intern must be computer literate and have experience with social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and similar tools. *Wordpress experience a major plus

Relations, Publicity and Community Outreach Intern

The main responsibilities of the Relations, Publicity and Community Outreach Intern are to publicize Woodhull retreats and events by performing outreach to various groups and to research grants to help Woodhull grow.  As well, the intern will blog for our website to keep Woodhull alumnae and newcomers updated on our upcoming events and programs.
